City of Indianapolis Adds Nextdoor to Community Outreach Toolbox

The City of Indianapolis announced that it will begin utilizing Nextdoor (www.nextdoor.com/Indy), the private social network for neighborhoods, to enhance citywide and neighbor-to-neighbor communications.

  • Using Nextdoor, Indianapolis residents can create private neighborhood websites to share information, including neighborhood public safety issues, community events and activities, local services and even lost pets.
  • Already Nextdoor has proven to be an essential and well-adopted tool for Indianapolis residents. More than 335 neighborhoods, representing 63 percent of the city, are members.
  • Nextdoor is free for residents and the City.
  • Please note, all requests for City services must still go through the Mayor’s Action Center by calling (317) 327-4MAC, going online to www.indy.gov/requestindy  or downloading the RequestIndy mobile app.
  • Those interested in joining their neighborhood’s Nextdoor website can visit www.nextdoor.com/indy  and enter their address. If residents have questions about their Nextdoor website, please visit help.nextdoor.com.

Please take a few moments to help guide Indy hospitals’ strategies to make the most impact in the health of our community

Area Indiana hospitals are reaching out to Indianapolis residents to get their views on the most important health needs in their communities. Please take five to seven minutes to share what you think are the most pressing health needs in our community by clicking on the following survey link surveymonkey.com/s/inhealthneedssurvey.

Your responses to the online survey will be used to help area hospitals determine their community benefit strategies for the years 2016-2018.  In 2013, Community Health Network, Franciscan St. Francis, Indiana University Health and St. Vincent Health invested more than $2 billion to improve the health of the community and provide free or reduced cost healthcare to qualifying residents.

As Director of Community Outreach, I oversee the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services and our nine neighborhood liaisons.  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Mayor's Neighborhood Liaison or to me directly.

Sincerely,

Ryan T. Clem
